I posted Fence"s photos on the Society of American Bayonet Collectors facebook page and got a quick response. This bayonet is a Liege copy of the French 1842 bayonet made with blades supplied by several German makers. Liege, Belgium was famous for making bayonets for export, for many other countries....even before Belgium was ever a country. Marv -

"Recovered" as always is a question of definition. In 1945, Eickhorn had almost 4000 employees and a substantial campus near the former main train station, today there are 12 or 13? employees. There was an insolvency in the 70s, which saw the death of the original Carl Eickhorn company and transition to Anette Eickhorn GmbH, along with the cessation of Cutlery and Sword manufacturing, and even the rights to the brand Eickhorn largely leaving the Eickhorn family & business (ending up at GMS and Hörster, with some carveouts for shared by A, Eickhorn). Over time the rights were clawed back to A. Eickhorn, until that business went insolvent in 2004. Eickhorn was bought by a British Consortium (Lightweight Body Armour) and Factory and Employees retained (whilst the Eickhorn Family exited). This Company became LBA Eickhorn, later Eickhorn Solingen Ltd. In 2007, Scottish member of the LBA, Andrew McGill bought Eickhorn, and renamed the business "The Original Eickhorn Solingen Company Limited". In 2012, the business was sold to an employee, who is still the owner of the business today. Since Brexit, Eickhorn has again become a GmbH. There is also Waffentechnik Borkott & Eickhorn, which is not related to the Original Eickhorn, but rather a company run by a member of the Eickhorn Family. For a time, Original Eickhorn manufactured for Waffentechnik, although that is no longer the case as of 2-3 years ago or so. It's unlikely anyone here is that deep into the matter, but I believe that is also the reason for Waffentechnik removing the PRT from their catalogue. The Waffentechnik Bayonets and Combat knives (to my knowledge) are now manufactured by Karl Clauberg GmbH, who also do contract work for Original Eickhorn and Böker (primarily grinding), and run the Kitchen Knife company Paul Adrian. -
