Here's an original USN WW2 Legion of Merit that was acquired with an original WW2 USN Distinguished Service Medal, both US Mint production and with the gilded full suspension brooch and gilded suspension rings, awarded to an unknown recipient at least 80 years ago, but now lost to time. The suspension ring on the DSM is larger than the LoM. Excuse the glare from the UV plexiglass but note the thread on the suspension rings so there is no gravity pull on the medals and drapes. Both ribbons are unmistakably stiff, another tell-tale characteristic to look for in original medals.
