4STARCHRIS, that’s a beauty, especially with that nicely engraved wooden box to go with it. And thank you for the “backstory” on the buckle’s maker! Feel free to post any of your other buckles here, too! -

I’ve always wanted one of these high altitude helmets but never had the funds when they show up. Priced reasonably? -

Looks like several finger prints, very interesting. Did they fingerprint soldiers and is there a database where this information is kept? -

Years ago I posted a similar one here. It was found at a swap meet with a Navy SS and another Navy medal that I can't remember. I'll need to check mine for that mark. -

I just got a pile of those. Most are stuck together. Any advice is helpful. -

I just saw your comment today and I cannot answer it. With that said possibly someone that can will see it now and they will answer your question. Good luck! -

Correct, a morale patch. This one probably would not be tolerated on a uniform. Maybe a tour jacket or just a souvenier. Randy -

I have to be honest and say that I was a little confused when you mentioned the supporter. That was until I took a closer look at the directions and noticed one down in the corner and honestly I am not sure that I would want to find one marked or otherwise. While looking closely at directions I did find something interesting that may ID the original owner. There is a partial finger print in the black ink that I assume is the soldier and it’s been there since back in WWII. I appreciate your comment. Thanks! -

I do. I had a SSgt once who used to drag us out to the smoke pit with him because he liked to shoot the bull while he smoked. So I jokingly bought a cheap pipe and kept it loaded, and would whip it out on these smoke pit journeys. Kept it up off and on, mostly in the field...but ever since I bought my house about two years ago I took it back up while putzing around the barn or yard doing chores.
