The style differences are interesting for sure, still transitioning from the old standing collar uniforms in quite a few ways. Lt. Anders definitely used this one pretty hard but it has held up. This shade is definitely more appealing to me personally than the chocolatey color of the wartime officer uniforms. I've always been fascinated by the fighting in the Philippines, this was purely an accident but I'm certainly happy with it! Hoping to have it on display at work for our annual WWII event in a few months. -

Hey everybody, recently purchase this purple heart box, and when I say box, I mean only the box and there was the Purple Heart ribbon inside as well. Looks like the family held onto the medal. It is very possibly a killed an action, purple heart and medal. I thought it was fascinating that the name is still on it. It’s named to a “Sgt E. Gage”. Going to be a nice research project, I wonder if there is any database for the serial numbers? -

@Charlie Flick I check Rankin every once in a while. Gives a nice overview on Naval items. Thanks for responding! @thorin6 I found a online version of that https://archive.org/details/flaydermansguide0000flay/page/n3/mode/2up but those coming to this post later may no longer have Internet Archive books available depending on current lawsuits. -

I took some close ups of the members in the photo and I see all their name tapes say US Navy so you'd be correct. -
