If it was a SPECIFIC chaplain, it would have to be a 9th ID 39IR chaplain which is the unit I portray. The problem with doing only one faith would be with other people in the group of different faiths having a Problem with it or something. Tagt’s what I ment. Working I getting insignia first and then I’ll work on getting the gear.if any one has any recommendations on where to find chaplain stuff, or anything for trade, let me know! -

Let me begin by saying that I can binge watch the Tv show “Forged in Fire” that is on Story TV all day every Friday. With that said last Friday they had the Battle of the Branches with forgers from all four branches of the US Military competing against each other. What brought tears to my eyes was the fact that they used military equipment to test the bolo or other types of knives forged during the competition. They used, well I will let the photos speak for themselves. Not sure how real the props were but it was still rather painful. to watch. Please excuse the horrible photos taken off of my TV screen. -

I am currently researching a uniform that is an absolute mystery but one which I thought folks here might have some insight on. The M1917 coat in question has collar discs for Company A of a pioneer infantry unit, a red honorable discharge chevron and a blue for 1-6 months overseas. The corporal rank on the right sleeve strikes me as a bit unusual due to its shape. The SSI I have been told/read is for the 814th Pioneer Infantry Regiment. The real mystery is the name inside the coat which appears to read "Vernon." Checking the troops transport lists, there is no one in Company A of the 814th with "Vernon" as a name. This coat was pulled out of the trash back in the 1970s and made its way into museum storage at the end of the decade. My main question is if any other pioneer infantry regiments used the same SSI as the 814th? -

Hi here, I have this helmet since years, it looks fine to me but I wanted to hear your opinion. Also have you ever seen a helmet with this type of insignia ? It was sold by an antique marketer in Metz. Thanks for your opinions. -

Looked through most of what I can find on ProQuest with what I have access to, most of the articles are about the Pacific, Marines, or notifying that people are leaving to become chaplains. Some interesting things; 1. Chaplain Jacob A. Ott raided a "Nazi supply house" of insignia after the capture of St. Malo. Pictured is some of the insignia sewn onto a piece of fabric by Mrs. Ott, and being held up by Mildred Jschinsky. "GERMAN INSIGNIA TAKEN IN FRANCE ON DISPLAY HERE: CHAPLAIN'S MAN CALLS IT 'JUNK.'." Chicago Daily Tribune (1923-1963), Nov 26, 1944. 2. Another NY Times article talks about Army Chaplains stationed in Europe visiting Jerusalem. By Wireless to THE NEW YORK TIMES. "CLERGY TO SEE HOLY LAND: U.S. ARMY CHAPLAINS STATIONED IN EUROPE TO TAKE TOURS." New York Times (1923-), Jul 25, 1945. 3. 1943 short film depicting chaplains made by Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer. The film features Ronald Regan as one of the chaplains. Link to the IMDB Page. Link to the Ronald Regan Upload Link to a different YouTube Upload Hope that helps in some way, - Bill -
