Came across this, it may help answer a couple of your questions. It is the only similar brass gripped bayonet with similar cross guard and nothing on the spine of blade that I can see. It does have different makers marks to your example. Others may have further thoughts on it. Cheers

For wire laying, there was also a ReelCart, which could be hand or vehicle drawn and carried 3 DR4 reels or 1 DR5 reel... Some photos...    

Looking at this knife today...........  Just curious if the knife is orig?? Looks unused. Not too sure.. I believe it has a1955 and later scabbard. Could it be reproduction also?  Thank you!

I used to own a ribbon bar to Legge. I believe it  was the same configuration as what's on your uniform.   

Charleston S.C. was the birthplace of 9 officers that achieved flag rank during WW2. The overall state of South Carolina was the POB for 47 flag rank officers. Shown are 2 Charleston natives   Lieutenant General Robert Richardson 1882-1954, USMA 1904, he served for 42 years. Military governor of Hawaii, commanding General of all Army personnel in the central pacific. General Richardson USARPAC was responsible for Army training, disciplinary, logistics, etc. Richardson worked closely with the operational commander Admiral Nimitz.    Brigadier General Barnwell Legge 1891-1949, Citadel 1911, 37 years in uniform. Military attache to Switzerland during the war.   I don’t directly collect vets from any area beside local CA stuff but thought the coincidence was too cool to not share! Both these generals have vast amounts of info on their careers online that is definitely worth a read.

Found these in a grouping. My thought is they were altered for maybe an ROTC unit, police or something other than USAF. I see some on ebay, and some say USAF colonel and some say police. I am guessing that was a guess by the sellers and others just followed suit. Any thoughts on this?   Gold piping looks to have been altered and piping at top.
