I will have to see if I can get some better close ups but a few members do have the 5th SFG flash on them, its easier to see in hand. Which kneeling man is CDR Quick, I can get a closeup of him as well as anyone else that might be recognizable. -

A friend of mine that sells at the flea market brought this last week. He was a M.P. in Vietnam. He said he traded liners with a Thailand M.P. His name is Steve R.. I Didn't ask him to use his name so I will use his last initial. I can't find a picture of one on the internet. -

Neil, that's a great story! It jogged my memory about some of the things I was a part of as a lowly enlisted infantryman stationed in Germany. We lived in updated pre-WW2 German barracks, about 4 to a room. Inspections were hugely important and all the stops were pulled out to make sure we were ready. Rooms cleaned, common areas cleaned, personal lockers in perfect order, field gear & rifle layed out on our bunks in a perfect preordained order. Everything in its place. Unfortunately sometimes items came up missing. The secret workaround was when the inspectors ducked into a room, a buddy from a previously inspected room would slip the missing item into the room where it was needed so the inspection would go on without a hitch. We got pretty good at it! I think about all the issues surrounding COVID when it seemed like that was all that was discussed 5 years ago. In about 1977-ish, the swine flu epidemic was raging all about. At morning roll call one day, they announced that we were all being marched to the dispensary to have our swine flu shot. No discussion, no chance to opt out, it was expected. -

Gear Fanatic, re read Neil Albaughs post #19. Your asvab scores or whatever they use as an entrance exam now a days, will determine what jobs you will qualify for. So study. Reading and comprehension are as important as math skills. If you score low on the asvab, you too could be cleaning the heads 6 decks down on an aircraft carrier. The entrance exam determines what you can or cannot do in the military. Get a high enough score, and all the doors are open. -

So late to the show... These are very commonly mis-identified - the smaller block 'US' lead-backed ornaments are quartermaster wagon bridle blinder ornaments. They had two iron wires embedded in the lead, leaving four prongs to hold it on the blinder. The really common WW1 version with the plain stamped sheet brass w/ three integral prongs only came about around 1911-1913. -

Hi. Here someone photos of Chief of Staff General Douglas MacArthur during European tour. France, Poland, Romania, Austria. It would be interesting to know which countries he specifically visited and if there are any other photos. 🤔 -

This is one of my favorite recurring threads. It doesn't get updated particularly frequently--itself a testament to how uncommon boxed wings are! Thanks for sharing! Chris -

Yea its whatever you end up choosing, and if you have high enough scores on the entrance exam. You can choose whatever you want, but youll need the aptitude and inner perseverance to do it. Study and start working out. This is def not the right thread for these questions you are posting. See the title. Thank you. -

The man kneeling direct under “Advisory Group” font is CDR Quick he took over from CDR Blair. also, they are not the special forces berets. They are naval advisory group berets but they do look very similar.
