Hi Mikie, There were brackets to attach the RL31 Reel Equipment to the rear of the Jeep. Most were indeed attached in that location but sometimes they were put in the rear body or up front.... Some photos... -

Here's another JAPAN tabbed Cadre patch. It's not early Occupation of Japan made but maybe made in Germany when the 24th Division was assigned there? I gather it was a rendition of the earlier Japanese Occupation made types by a collector stationed in Germany during the 60s or 70s.
