The auctioneer said that the wings came from the Smarsh Estate. He believes the decedent was an Adam’s County , PA resident and passed a while back. Huge collector of memorabilia. Here’s a photo of the wings at the auction as found in a cardboard box with assorted unrelated items. -

Last week I took up a longstanding invitation to go down and have a rummage through a whole pile of boxes, plastic tubs and piles of gear from a closed museums storeroom. I already had a large number of items whilst the museum stock was being boxed up and transported into various storage depots. Lots of general items but in amongst it all I ended up with 5 British WW1 Home Front Helmets, some nicely marked up to Wimbledon Fire Brigade, all 1939 dated and complete with liners. Lots of small bklts, many of which are WW1 Army Training manuals. A few pairs of wartime boots, RAF and Army. Plus this pair dated 1943. That trip resulted in70 items in total, still have to go back as there are at least 5 plastic storage tubs buried under a huge number of other plastic tubs with my name on them. When the museum items were packed up for transporting the packers just labelled each box in the simplest way. ie. Military , Christmas, Toys, Food tins etc. As they work through anything remotely military or WW2 home front gets put to one side for me to have first refusal. As the pile gets smaller I will be back to try and extract the rest of military marked boxes. They have no idea what is in each box until it's opened up and emptied. -

I am guessing the "Ken" is "Capt Ken Lazier" who used to write to veterans to get stuff. A lot of his stuff was sold in Manions back in the day. Kurt -

Hello! Recently picked up this 1881 Mills belt, looking for some more info on it, and maybe its value. I presume the buckle to be to the NY National Guard, but is it blue for Navy? Thank You! -

. Hi Johan, Thanks for adding the link to events happening that week, that will be helpful for many people. Sadly myself and many others would prefer the word ' Commemoration ' were used, rather than the current terminology being used. !!!! Norman D. Landing, Forum Normandy Correspondent, April 22 2O25. ….
