For what it’s worth, I absolutely agree with Kirk. Navy items “dolled up” and not regulation were quite popular as women’s wear and I think that is exactly what your hat is. I have seen blue jumpers with yellow stripes and stars instead of white, and I purchased a red jumper with blue stripes and stars as a part of the large collection I acquired and I think both were worn by fashionable women. Thanks for sharing the hat.

Hi Kurt, I don’t know if I am replying correctly but thank you for your suggestion. It is definitely a possibility. Something popped in my head when I was searching your suggestion. Buster Brown! It’s the closest thing I have found so far. Thanks again!  

If you go to Ebay and enter the following in the search bar, then look at completed items, there are a bunch of good high-quality pictures of my item. It is pretty easy to find. The listing sold on Sun, Feb 23 at 10:47 PM. I cannot replicate the quality of pictures that the seller has listed on Ebay. This was the description:  "Antique US Civil War German Import Bayonet Short Sword w/Scabbard "

If you look closely it looks like a leather patch with the squadron stencil. This is definitely a fantasy item as already described in other comments. 

Why would Joe Foss have a Navy squadron stenciled on his jacket? Looks put together to me.    Chris
