It's definitely not from WW2. It's a ~1969 or later G1-Flight jacket with synthetic collar fur. USN stencil on the neck is not original. -

Mississippi Rifle bayonets tended to have scabbards of leather with brass fittings. I think it more likely this was made for and used used in Europe. -

Yes. That aged patina is highly valued by serious collectors. Polish will kill its collector value. Also, I got curious and it looks like the beehive is the trademark for Samuel Hoppe of Solingen, Germany. mikie -

The post WW2 type 5s have a slightly convex shape. I tried to take a picture showing the flat and the convex one side by side. Hope it shows up in the pic. -

Brand new here, so please point out anything I do that breaks any unwritten rules. I was given this jacket by some friends as a going away gift overseas. They bought it online and wont tell me how much it was. But according to them and the patches on it, its a named flight jacket belonging to Maj Joeseph Foss of the USMC / USAF who was the USMC’s #2 ace and awarded the MoH. Now I’m a little skeptical this jacket is his and from WW2 as it lacks a storm flap or other markings or features I’ve seen on other jackets in threads here, other than what could be a white paint marker “USN” on the outside of the neck when the collar is popped. Either way, this jacket will have immense meaning to me, I just want to know if I can treat this with saddle soap and wear it for special occasions or if I need to insure this thing and turn it over to the USMC museum when I pass away haha. -

Needing a little help. I have about 40 of these "US Army & Navy Silhouette Models" , "Co-operative Displays" "US Navy Bureau of Aeronautics" , 3 different sizes. I know that they were made for WWII Aircraft Spotter Training. All the ones I found are from 1943, but of mine are from 1942 and some have "Coca Cola Toyland" printed on back. I know coca cola supported the war effort in many ways but have never heard of these. These appear to be before all the ones I've found and have not been able to find any with a coca cola marking. Any help appreciated. -

Where on earth did you come up with this identification!!?!!?? This SSI is easily found on the US Army Institute of Heraldry website. Your "answer" to another inquiry is just as puzzling. -

. Hi Johan, always a pleasure to see your bicycle out and being used. The photographs of the German unit at a friends farm are all using bicycles, I can't recall seeing any vehicles in the images she showed me earlier today, when I get the images I will add some of them here. Here's the start of my ' Columbia ' , needing a few more parts, in fact everything that's shown in your photo. 🤣 🤣 🤣 https://usautoindustryworldwartwo.com/westfield.htm Norman D.
