. Easter Sunday 20 April 2025, Ste Mere Eglise.   Here's the three styles for a Jeep, Screen up, Screen Down, Tilt up.  It was drizzling when I set to for coffee this morning, however it did brighten up when I returned home.    Continuing the service this afternoon, checking plugs and points gaps etc.    early mb,  I took a tape measure with me and measured Mike's floor to wheel arch his measures 33 inches, or 84 centimetres, personally I prefer the higher ride and appearance.      Norman D. This is one of the most amazing stories I've read from your news clippings images concerning the Vietnam war.....and I've heard a lot of stories.   To me, these kinds of stories should be captured better in some kind of reference.   Thanks for sharing this!!   Riverpatrol

I have not handled many engraved ww2 medals, but recently spent several hours scouring the net and the USMF for engraving styles. Looks like it can be a mne field, but some consistancies emerge after much study. I yield to those of you who have handled hundreds of these and have/are authoring books on US WW2 engraved medals.    I recently acquired this medal from a well know seller, but cannot find many representations of engraving that match. Perhaps it is privately done? The name, Gustav A Pfuhlmann, is legitimate and a 4-5 Mar 45 document exists for his actions as a medic. Can some one shed some light on this particular style of engraving and how one would confidantly make a conclusion. THanks

"Quote"  It was also THE bag for Special Forces.  In fact, they carried that bag in canvas through the 80s.   Absolutely, Which is why we compared content notes in my post.  We were still caring them well thru the 80s.  We had them on the M113 ambulances.  They were standard equipment,      Now that said, in the 80s, what was in them was dependent on the job context of the medic.  A senior field medic attached to an infantry unit would use them as a Major Trauma bag. But they also carried the m3 bag.   In my case, we did not carry the m3 on the track.  We only carried the M5 which had a contents similar to the m3 without all the everyday illness items.  They were more like giant first aid kits,  Of course we had the iv fluids as well.   Also below is a field photo of the M% being used to carry bulk bandages,  It is very obvious that these guys are not assigned to the infantry unit but are from a medical unit brought in during a major battle, Perhaps an aid station or transportation company.  I do not know the context of the photo beyond the VN War.   Here is a photo of a SF medic.  He has the m3.  A lot of SF guys carried a can of albumin themselves so the medic did not need to carry it for them as would a regular infantry Aid-man.  SF guys also had their own morphine.  Here is a photo a SF guy with an albumin can attached to his gear.   The Guys today STILL carry a version of the M5 bag.  It is set-up a bit differently and more purpose made, but its the same general bag.  They have stopped carrying the m3 I am told.

I immediately saw the SSI as the Panama Canal Department.

I think the photo was shot in Panama.       CZ Brats / Bill Fall   In the profile above, in the section for the Gaillard Cut, note "ELEV. 312' HIGHEST ORIGINAL GROUND ON CENTERLINE."   If you look at the area with google maps you'll find Avenidas Gaillard, which runs parallel to the canal. At the highest section of the road, (at roughly the 100m contour line,) an agricultural research station known as Summit Gardens was founded in 1923. Nearby, the Summit Hills Golf Course was opened in the 1930's.
