Hey, @rtd_sf_eng, on further research I believe the initials “S.O.D., P.G., ILL.” refer to “Savanna Ordnance Depot, Proving Ground, Illinois.” That location is referred to in several documents as a proving ground in its early days and it is in Illinois. Here’s an example: https://fortwiki.com/Savanna_Army_Depot It appears that the name of Savanna Ordnance Depot was used from 1921 to 1962. -

Fascinating. It is a cool looking wing and have never seen one like this before. Clearly the work of a silversmith/jeweler. A couple of hints I see. The .925 is typically a continental European mark for sterling grade silver. Also that barrel hinge and pin are strikingly Germanic. So I would turn from India and China and consider other possible sources. Great piece! -

I will have to find one or two in the US. But where? I have been in contact with a few people but they did not want to part with what they had. I will continue my search for the Holey Grail :-) -

Unfortunately, I'm not sure where you might turn one up over in Denmark, but I have to imagine a quantity of them were left in Europe after WWII with all the equipment that was not brought back to the US. -

Hello all, I came across this vangergrift jacket and I’m trying to find out what date this may have been issued. I can’t read the stamped dates. Based on my experience, USMC started issuing the green interiors post wwii in late 1940s. I would appreciate any help. Thanks. -

Solid looking 1930-31 action rebuilt during WW2 and used post war by Greece. Nice USGI sling from the 70-80s. Great buttplate. High Standard made some really nice shooting barrels. Remington parts on a late wartime rebuild is very common. A “Hatcher Hole” does not mean it was a Marine rifle; SA drilled them too. Dont forget, with the sight down your point of impact should be very high. Roughly 500 yards was the battle sight zero height.
