According to the lineage and honors statement for the regiment for the 353rd Regiment (it's a training unit now, not an infantry unit), it did receive the WW1 French CdG with Palm as a unit award for St. Mihiel. That doesn't preclude some soldiers receiving the CdG as individual awards. -

They are indeed very rare. The first 2 PC swords above I bought in the US. The third one I bought here in the Philippines and is stamped #26. I have a 4th one but is incomplete. No handle. Only the blade and the scabbard. -

Very neat book and some great patches and photos. I have a similar one from WWI from a woman who ran a service club in New York for Michigan service members. As far as identification, and please don't take this the wrong way, but perhaps invest in some quality reference books, there aren't any patches that I can see that aren't easily identifiable with either a good book, which will always pay for itself, or a simple Google search. The probably original Japanese group photo in front of the Shinden. Oh, wow! -

I am not sure but the daughter did not have them. Most of the missing patches had signs of tape residue on the shadow locations so presumably they just got lost over the most than 80 years of the albums existence. -
