Thanks, it is a little odd, I have seen one or two others like that. they seem relatively rare if I can say that.

Great uniform, that’s a weird color pattern for the victory medal. Never seen one like that

Picked up and reading through a copy of Crimson Spearhead, on the history, uniforms, and insignia of the First Special Service Force.   It’s very good, and extremely informative, especially on the 1SSF patch.   if anyone is also a FSSF collector and would like scans of the sections on insignia, let me know.

I picked this uniform up later last year. It a Vandergrift jacket of a marine master sergeant who did at least 20 years in the corps. While in he earned a bronze star, navy commendation with V, an Asiatic Pacific with 4 campaigns, Korean war with 3 campaigns, and what I believe to be a South Korean Presidential unit citation.  It's not named, but due to the South Korean unit citation I believe that this individual was part of the 1st Marine Division.

Resurrecting this topic.  I have heard that the "rubberized" coating is like the polyurethane or PU that is also used to line other moden backpacks and cordura bags. The lid of an Alice pack is a classic area of concern and also a convenient pouch in the versions with the hidden velcro pocket there if they are not deteriorated

Here's a recent piece that will be headed back to Pennsylvania. Sgt. John Guillaume was wounded on July 2nd at Gettysburg, PA.

I see nothing wrong with that ladder badge, and would be comfortable with it. Rush's Lancers is a well known unit as I'm sure you're already aware.

I was just talking about this set earlier today.   Thanks for posting it.
