There is stenciling under the tan paint… which most likely has the shipping to/from information shipping from Japan.. just an assumption… I think leaving the Effects stencil on is the way to go.. I’ve not seen that before…✌️🇺🇸 -

Likely a standard stamp for each letter with adjustable numbers would be my guess. It is the last four numbers of the soldier's serial number preceded by the last initial. S-1855 -

How far back does that "tradition" run? I've seen AAF uniforms with a numbered airforce patch on the right shoulder and the standard AAF patch on the left.
