Looking again at my image I believe it’s a cloth badge which makes way more sense but you get the idea. Again though congrats…I’d be thrilled to own your silver engraved piece. Paul

That is one option...  there is also the drive-in area in the adjacent hall - which would be on the north side of your map.

It’s been several months since I’ve found another unauthorized CIB. This 3 inch badge harkens back to Post #157:     There are several differences, however. For example, the wreath and M-16 are black, the M-16 has an almost 3-D look to it, and the background is not the U.S. Flag colors. Instead it uses the colors and the shapes of the three medal ribbons that most Vietnam Veterans would have been awarded: the National Defense Service Medal, the Vietnam Service Medal, and the Vietnam Campaign Medal.

😂🤣 that’s funny! I had posted them on Facebook and some people freaked out and told me to get them out of my house. Had to explain that wasn’t possible with the bottom being wood but they still didn’t understand. Glad I found this site!

Wow, what a poignant piece of history. Thanks for sharing it and keeping his memory alive!

These were used to train gun crews and develop "muscle memory" for the process of handling and loading and practice fuze setting. Generally these were for Navy 3" guns - but some larger ones do exist.  We generally sell them at our military store for around $150-175 each.   *funny story- one time we had a guy call up with one, sent us pics, definitely an all wood training one, and we explained what it was. well he called the police just to be sure, they called the bomb squad and they came and blew it up,  Must have been a slow night...

It’s our dear daughter’s wedding day today. I’m nervous as all heck and there is still hours to go. It rained pretty hard yesterday. The rehearsal was a bit cold and wet. But forecast is for sunshine today. Rain comes back tomorrow . It’s kind of like D-Day, weather cleared up just long enough to get things done.  Wish is luck!  mikie
