Thanks, jmd62. I like those cut-out designs, too.

I think this originally came under the USFK as the USAF component. The United States Forces Korea (USFK) is a sub-unified command of U.S. Indo-Pacific Command (USINDOPACOM). The mission of USFK is to support the United Nations Command (UNC) and Combined Forces Command by coordinating and planning among U.S. component commands, and exercise operational control of U.S. forces as directed by United States Indo-Pacific Command. In addition, USFK is responsible for organizing, training and equipping U.S. forces on the Korean Peninsula, as well as executing ancillary functions such as non-combatant evacuation operations. I believe the USAFK was replaced by the already active 7th Air Force to eliminate too many layers of command.  There was the same for USAFJ. Hard to find anything for sure, but this seems to be the case.   Randy

Perhaps an early entry for 2025, I’ve managed to snaffle a Kinney pilot wing badge for $45. Pictures are not great, so looking forward to receiving it and checking it out in detail.

. Normandy finds 1999 . . . . . .    Visiting a local friend he had these two pieces on display, they weren't found together, the fuze head is from an exploded grenade, the grenade body is unused and empty.  There are local anecdotal stories that grenade bodies found empty in fields are ones that local farmers post-war extracted the powder from to self-load shotgun cartridges being unable to own or buy shotgun ammunition during the occupation.  Wild boar, rabbits and pigeons being a source of food post war.     Norman D. landing, Forum Normandy Correspondent, February 05  2025. ...

Here he is. Actually he’s a 1/6th plate tintype not an ambro like I had remembered.

Hi David,   unfortunately the number painted on the hood is the vehicle's military registration number, and is completely unrelated to the unit it was assigned to. Can you post the pic?

What a beautiful 11th Corps badge and a tough one to find! I have one super clear ambrotype of an unidentified 11th Corps soldier with a similar silver badge pinned to his forage cap.  Paul
